My point is that is is of benefit in its intended area.

Also I doubt that a few billion more would have discovered a cure for cancer. New treatments for different types of cancer perhaps.

For that matter if you are so eager to expand federal research dollars on searches for cancer cures there are many much larger areas of spending to redirect to cancer research. SDI is a pretty small piece of the pie.
