I was surprise at the extend of the miss. They referred to the fact that they are a book and ship business, so have very little backlog, but why wait so long in the quarter to pre-announce when the miss was going to be that big??? I don't remember their business being that back end loaded. They claim 75 percent of the cost saving will be realized in this Q, but with only 47 mil in cash and a burn rate of about 10 mil a Q, they can't last long without some severe cuts.

In general TLAB is suggest no recovery in telecom till Q4 2002. This was at a conference recently in September. The analyst hosting the conference was only looking for another 6 months of weakness. If TLAB is conservative and they usually are, DIGL might just have enough cash to survive, but it is looking pretty dicey right now.

It sure doesn't help that GLW warned again after the close.
