I would like to know if the bears/shorts would be against showing short sales on say a ticker or short sales for the day
And if so why?
Information is king right?

I agree that a broker is not suppose to short a cash account however to make an orderly market the maket makers in a marginable security in a negotiated market can if fact short against a long position of the cash accounts.

Been told this over and over again AND I just got told it again just now because I called where I have accounts... Why do you think the online commissions are so low. They play the positions (inventories)...

SO if ECN & ATS come in this is a moot point. But we are raising issue with all markets. Each one has its own rules. Listed security and OTC securities ... which include NNM, NSM, OTCBB, PINKS. If not they would be naked on all trades.

ANyway my complaint is if your stock is going to be loaned out then it should have the righful owners' permission and thus be compensated.
