But I think it is preferable that other nations help shoulder the burden, cooperatively, at least a quadrilateral Pax, consisting of the US, EEU, Russia and China,

And the US should lay the framework of its foreign policy and not veer from it for some short term gain.

That policy should indicate the conditions under which the US would get involved, the causes and whom or what type of Govt. they would support. And I hope they DO NOT support dictators, kings (even for cheap oil), terrorists (even to rout our potential enemies such as Russia and China) and other such extremists. The policy should not favor one nation over another just because the wother nation such was Pakistan is willing to provide military bases while India refused (in the past). Also a terrorist act anywhere should be considered a threat to everyone and acted upon and not only when the terrorist act comes and hits the US in its homeland.

And conversely they would nurture and support Democracies, even corrupt ones because they will be thrown out eventually by the people, and self rule in all areas of the world.

With these guidelines clearly established and known to the world, I think the US will be viewed positively and the hatred for Americans and America, which is viewed as flexing its muscle for its own selfish gains, diminish.

You may not like the US being the policeman of the world, but the US did spend trillions of (everybody) $ to be in a postion to do that job. Pax Americana is the right definition, for sure, but not like the Romana for sure : you got Ethics as FL did say. May be too much Ethics, we'll see ?
Now do not count of Euroland for help. Russia, yes, looks like. But see the news coming out of France today :
A fregate war ship sailed out today manned by 139 warriors, and escorted by a supply ship with 165 men.
PM Jospin gave the go, and added : "We have to help our US friends like they helped us during WWII to free ourseves from the Nazi." Nobody smiled.
And a reminder : on DDay, 177 French soldiers swam to the shore... in the afternoon. The did have some action though. And during the Battle of England, there were a dozen french pilot fighting, no one died. May be they were much better than all the other pilots.

The French nucleat plat top is still testing its new propellor. During the Gulf war, when president Mitterrand ordered the old Foch flattop out to the Gulf he added to the then PM, and "but have it painted anew first". And since then, Mitt and Chirac often boasted about the "Force de Deployement Rapide." Rapde means fast. I could go on, but what's the purpouse ?

Do what you have to do, and count on yourselves and your true friends the Brits, because Chirac may get ready to cut a deal with Irak for their third nuclear plant trade. The two first were busted by Israel and I have heard heavy complaint in France after each action.

You'll get the barbarians. But in the following days and weeks, the angst will reach new levels, like ten years ago when every expert kept reminding us that Irak has the forth army in the world, higly experienced with ten years of war with Iran, etc.
It won't be as easy, nor as short, as you all know, but the villains and their partners do not stand a chance... besides harming you from the inside of course.
