I am certain that it means different things to everyone. But any culture that puts the value of the individual's life below that of country/cause/culture, is sick in my mind. But notice, you don't see the leaders and intelligencia of *any* culture or country jumping in planes to dive bomb into ships (WWII Japan) or buildings (Sept 11).

I totally understand the "relationship" thing in Asia. And it varies depending on which country you are in. In China, if the relationship is not strong, agreements can be fairly fluid right up until the check is received. But once the relationship is established, handshake deals are common. Japan, the relationship is key over the long term, but once there is a handshake agreement, it is solid....as long as you know what you are agreeing on:-). I found Malaysia to be very "western" in their business dealings. India is very straightforward, but they have stars in their eyes (everything is always much smaller than they present)....my dealings in the ME have been nominal....Afghanistan, though in my area, doesn't seem real interested in buying technology stuff.
