I don't think it was a deception back then, nor is it a deception of AMD to start using model numbers. Anybody who is interested can find out the details behind DX vs. SX of 386, and anybody interested can find out the details of the Athlon XP ModelHertz (after October 9th)

"Athlon 1500+" etc relies on the customer's misinterpratation in order to have the desired effect. The customer thinks MHz when making a buying decision and this is intended to influence his/her decision. The customer must be deceived by the message or the message wouldn't work. To deny something this obvious is not intellectually honest. If you want to argue that it's nothing new or no big deal then we can agree to disagree but please don't deny the obvious intention.
