AMD just does the work for the consumer, saving him time and effort. Since you are so concerned about "the customer", aren't you happy that AMD is performing this service to the customer free of charge?

Now you're making a more honest argument. Because the customer mistakenly thinks that in the battle between Intel and AMD MHz = performance(we can argue that), AMD is deceiving the customer into making what is actually the better choice. A white lie perhaps? Misinformation to counter misconception?

Joe, <AMD just does the work for the consumer, saving him time and effort.>

AMD's message is arbitrary and confusing. They are not helping nor educating the consumer. Instead, they are dumbing down the message and trying to take advantage of the consumer's lack of knowledge.

From a certain point-of-view, you can argue that Intel is marketing the Pentium 4 in a similar way. But at least Intel does not have to conjure up fake numbers.
