I didn't understand that last sentence, when I read it. Did they mean that methane is responsible for warming the climate at a faster rate after it's burned or just when it's released into the atmosphere, (naturally)?

At any rate, as long as we depend on fossil fuels to supply our energy needs, there's not much we can do about the warming climate effect, except try and reduce the damage we do as much as we can.

I do think it's in own best interests as long as we're going to stick with the present methods to do what we can to find a way to take advantage of these deposits, and get away from our dependence on foreign oil.
