Phosphates are not toxic. They were banned from most waste water systems because they are a fertilizer to algae.

Phosphate, as in superphosphate, is one of three main ingredients of all fertilizers: N-P-K. P stands for phosphate. Comparison of P and Co is made with reference to their relative toxicity of the dump sites. In fact, human bones are made of Phosphates and Calcium, not cobalt. Ram
