mattie,

I would not hang on to PALM too long if it pops. I know some of the thinking is that PALM will be able to license its operating system. I started some design work with a Handspring unit (a PALM OS licensee) recently and found the operating system has some important limitation that would deter me from using it as a general purpose operating system. It is fine for the PALM/Handspring application where the system is essentially a fancy user interface, but beyond that it has limited applications.

I know the Handspring sales have slowed. I heard for another OEM and he said he used to get no response when he asked for technical support. Now the product managers are calling him all the time to try to do joint development on new products. The is usually a pretty good sign that sales are not good.
