Engineer. You are closer to MOT's political gambits than I am. I can see that operators using MOT equipment could be subject to MOTdragging its heels but I have no firsthand knowledge. I do recall that Verizon was decommissioning MOT equipment said to work poorly.

I really never understood why KDDI picked MOT for their 1X system, but surely they were smart enough to include appripriate rewards, punishments and testing for meeting specifications on time. Clearly, looking at the efforts of India's cellular operators to saddle WLL operators with an unsupported dead end CDMA standard, it is a cutthroat, dog-eat-dog world or dirty tricks in telecom land.

10/4/01 QCOM close lowest since 9/13/99 (according to my not necessarily exactly correct records).

10/4/01 QCOM close 42.00

9/13/99 QCOM close (before split adjustments) 153 3/8, or around 38.34 (split adjusted).

(9/14/99 QCOM close was 42 5/8)

9/13/99 was the day that Qualcomm skipped the Cowen technology conference.

And ... that "talented" Wall Street analyst Ed Snyder warned all of Wall Street that Qualcomm might be skipping the meeting because of some bad news for Qualcomm.

(This was totally not true). (Anyone who is familiar with Ed Snyder could have probably guessed that) ...

What on Earth are we doing at 9/13/99 levels ???

Jon.
