I wonder how many people forgot that when AMD released the first GHz processor, the list price for it was $1299. And that was just a year and a half ago.

And if Intel was totally uncompetitive then AMDs top chip might still be atleast half of that amount. If you point was AMD grabs what it can get too, then you are right. If you point was to counter the idea that AMD is pure and altrusistic while Intel is moneygrubbing and evil, then I don't think a counter was needed but to the extent it was I agree with your point. However if you point is that AMDs competition did not lower prices then I will have to disagree.
