Not at all. Defense just happens to be something that the federal government is _supposed_ to do. Get rid of the pork in defense, just the same as everywhere else and I'll be happy. There are plenty of places where the federal government is involved that it really shouldn't be.

I happen to like Bush, however I don't think the federal government should be pushing big education plans. Anywhere there is a federal program that is giving a bunch of cash to states is a big red flag that it should be the state's problem to deal with in the first place. If the state needs to raise taxes to have better schools, fine. Everything doesn't need to be federalized.

As an example, in NC a few years ago we were going to lower the drinking age back to 18 for students, military etc. It was derailed because the federal govt threatened to cut off highway money. Who are they to hold our money over our own state's head. This is the kind BS I'm talking about.
