I e-mailed SBC, Cingular, and BLS IR earlier on the Lucent contract. No reply from Cingular, and SBC's reply was worthless, but here's BLS's.

Thank you for contacting BellSouth Investor Relations.
The contract is a general purchase agreement, no commitments, for Lucent
to supply and support the existing TDMA network for maintenance and
expansion as warranted.

I followed Nextel, even invested in that dog about 4-5 years ago and considered myself lucky to exit with a small profit back then.

What I remembered most was their claim at one time that they will be cash flow positive when they hit 1 million sub. Well, that is long gone and they are further in the hole.

Not that QC would not appreciate some extra business but Nextel, with their only salient point being the walkie talkie feature, is a non player in the future. I understand even their spectrum isn't worth much.

I just got back from vacation and have not had a chance to catch up on news. However, if today's drop is due to nextel, then I would venture to suggest that even if nextel were to fully commit to 1x, it is not worth 2.81 to QC's value.
