Putin doubts that Tu-154 was shot down by Ukrainian missile
MOSCOW. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin
believes that the weaponry used by Ukrainian air defense units in the
Crimean exercise on Thursday has too short a range to reach the
area where the Tu-154 was flying.
It would be premature to make any statements before experts
complete their analysis, he said.
The exercise was watched, in particular, by Russian servicemen,
Putin said. "There is no reason why we should not trust them or
Ukrainian defense officials," he said.
The two defense ministries are analyzing details of the incident in
an effort to understand what has led to the explosion and loss of the
plane, Putin said. [RU EUROPE ASIA EMRG UA AIR DIS] ap <>
