I feel Israel should not respond with blunt force, but rather as the United States is now doing, quietly and decisively. If anyone is good at this Israel is. The Mossad are legendary for quiet, deadly operations. Politically this is far more effective, because the missions serve to protect the Israeli public, while removing the political weapon of publicity from Israel's antagonists/enemies.
