I am not so sure it is possible. Here is a gentler example of a problem. I became friends with a woman on SI who was emotionally needy, and compulsively flirtatious when PMing me. I am married, so I did what I could to damp her down. Nevertheless, she kept doing things like giving me her phone number so that I would call her, or trying to get me to exchange ICQ tags. I explained that I thought that would be crossing a line, but every so often she would try again. She knew my first name, in PMs, but I would not give her my full name until some time had gone by, and she had gotten the message, and abided by my sense of propriety. In fact, I would not give it to her until it became relevant to do so, as well. The reason was simple. I did not want her sending me cards, or getting my number and forcing me to decide between letting her cross a line or being cruel and breaking the friendship entirely.....
