for now I doubt they will since half of the goods China exports contain imported inputs, not to mention their foreign debt would explode, they'd be cutting their own nose off. If they become more self sufficient however or if the coming world economic tough love creates an every man for himself situation I think it could happen. I'm pretty sure if it does, there will be a lot of Asians rushing to buy gold, with the rest of the world very soon to follow.
