'You can choose to declare Pakistan your friend or your enemy'

There are more than these two black-or-white options - it appears to me from statements out of US leaders that they recognise the enemy as international terrorism as a whole, that nailing those responsible for 11 Sept is only a start ..... even that project in itself is a large one made of many steps along the way ... if Pakistan helps in the struggle, then good for them, they'll get brownie points for it, ceteris paribus ... if they act badly in other ways, then they'll get demerits ... soon as they sponsor terrorism they become the enemy ... i doubt very much that the US is stupid enough to permit them free rein to make trouble in J&K in exchange for that help, doing so just makes more problems down the road ... but it's a long journey made of many steps, with various factions within each country trying to influence direction, i think it would be wise to recognise that diversity ..... namaste

[edit] - i have a meeting next week with an old friend, a sikh, he's been to India fairly recently he says ... likes to read and keep up on news, i'll ask what he hears around his area ... [well, his great-grandfather's area - he's third generation canadian] ... cheers
