sunw management said that they had some suprises, i think towards msft, on their last quaterly conference call. ez and sm did not want to tip their hand at the time and laughed about it. i am betting that this is a strategic move or major product announcement. i do not think it is negative. laura conigliaro already has taken care of the negative outlook for the stock.

g.e. is going to get in the technology business but they do not need to buy sunw. they are contemplating becoming a facilitator of technology by becoming a asp and providing consulting services.

this is amazing. they want the entire wall street community to be listening.

rocky.

They're morons if they warn at 9:30 in the morning. Any ceo with a brain would warn after the closing bell. Again, why would layoffs require a cc?

Gee, Elwood, if you want to make that point badly enough that you post it three or four times, why not start a thread with that title, even if it only lasts until 6:30am tomorrow?<g>

I think SUNW has agreed to buy the new HWP/CPQ entity in an all-stock deal. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Of course, I actually feel sorry for the people who are going to lose their jobs. They announce layoffs to the market on a Friday morning because that's when they announce them to the employees.

Right. If they warned after the close today or after the close on Friday, there would be time to digest the bad news(either 14 hours between Thursday after 4:30 PM and Fri morning at 9:30) or an entire weekend. So I tend to agree that this is net positive news.
