What you have here is a delicate balance.

The reason is that too many people want to screw either system which is dominate.

BTW, Sorry for the delay sharing my thoughts on the NEA. I'll get to it.

Thanks for your honest views. I appreciate you laying them out. Here are my views on your views:

True, and it pisses me off. That is why I sing the praises of good companies (like Southwest Airlines). I can see both sides here. My view would be to go to work for a company that did treat the employees right, yours would be the union will offer that security.

I know of many cases (I'm in the printing business) where this happens. Very common. But, I don't get the impression the union is pushing them up. I get the impression the management recognizes good talent and brings them up or the individual is motivated to be in management and strives to get there. We have seen this from opposite sides, but curious if the union really does enocurage them. Do they?

Probably not an exact correlation, but a good point.
