Dan, Re: "AMD is doing what it has to do to protect itself from what is effectively a criminal organization - crush it."

You and AMD's CEO have much in common when it comes to your perception of Intel.

You must be one of Jerry's Kids. ;-)

Crush It?? Yeah, I see how "smart" (cough) Jerry is about Crushing It..

"AMD will make Q3 loss"
"AMD had already warned that it might well make a loss during the quarter, but the decline of 22 per cent from a $985 million is worse than expected."
theinquirer.org

Hey, but at least ole Jerry stuffed the channel and moved as many Athlons as he "promised". As long as his EGO is satisfied, that's what RALLY matters to those 2300 FORMER employees..... Right??

Dan, RE: AMD is doing what it has to do to protect itself from what is effectively a criminal organization - crush it.

It appears from your post that you are becoming paranoid as well as delusional!

Intel is not out to destroy AMD. It is just trying to ramp the P4 under adverse market conditions. Too bad that AMD is in the way but that is capitalism at its best. As a consumer, I am really happy that I am getting such fantastic machines for less than $1000. If Intel starts selling its processors below cost to grab market share, I could start seeing criminal intent.

Regarding AMD crushing the "criminal organization" you have to be joking!! AMD is definitely in the hospital at a time when Intel is wearing the yellow jersey in the semiconductor industry. The question is whether AMD will be able to check out in the next few quarters by introducing competitive products in significant volume or whether it will have to be moved to the ICU and put on life support.

At a time like this, I am sure it does not help to have a CEO who seems to regularly take his foot out of his mouth for just enough time as it takes to shoot it, and then promptly stuffs it back in. If he were only a hundredth as competent as the engineers who designed the Athlon, AMD would not be in this sorry state.
