The stat you are referring to is usually stated that if you missed the 10 best days, your overall return diminishes dramatically.

What they don't say is that if you missed the 10 worst days, your return increases even more dramatically, because the bad days' drops exceed the good days' rises (percentage wise).

What they also don't say is that if you miss the 10 worst days AND the 10 best days, your total return actually still increases. This is of course because the drops are bigger than the increases.
