Interesting Weekend.

I had told my bride last week that I expected the fireworks to start on Monday. Alas, I was a day off.

Youngest son had a parent's weekend at the college. Really just an excuse to come visit; like my bride needs any excuse in this regard. So, his suggestion for fun was for a couple of families and a few college kids to go to one of the theme parks (he has a season's pass). For the last five years or so, my response was always that I'll stay at the hotel and read a good Clancy book. This time, I decided to make it his day and honor his wish. Got enough of that chit to last another five years. The park was packed with hour lines at most of the major rides. Those loop to loop coasters do provide a thrill. Got enough thrill to last another five years. I hate lines almost as much as I hate gaps.

It was interesting to see all the flags on cars going up the road, and interesting patriotic messages in their back windows. More interesting, was to see flags on dorm buildings at the college. Very different from when I was at college in 1969-70 with Kent state et al. A part of me hope it lasts, but the intellectual part says it doesn't have a chance. As the theme parks fill up, the old ways come back too quickly, and we still have the recrimination phase to deal with.

I'm doing just great. Clearly, the Phleet's major position in GE is still in the Scuba phase, but I can hope. Unless, it turns, I've decided to allow the daily to go up to the top.
