Has the issue of further funding and increased manpower for Canadian border crossings been taken up by Canadian Parliament yet?
Specifically I can't answer that but given the attention the issue is getting in Canada and the fact that virtually every western country is beefing up security I imagine it has.
I might mention M that at border crossings, the country receiving the visitor screens the visitor. On the Canadian side we pay the crossing toll and meet US customs only. Upon returning we meet Canadian customs and answer to them. Think about it. Americans have to beef up border security to ensure their own protection. Canada would have to be responsible for incoming security to its own borders.
Now we both know that we both need beefed up security vis a vis the fact that it appears terrorists on occaision get into Canada and move on into the states. We have therefore both failed in that instance. Further more, given the US security shield it must be acknowledged that terrorists attended US flight training and lived in the US for extended periods.
I maintain that a well motivated and funded terrorist will violate both our borders now and in the future. It is a very difficult problem for both of us.
Terrorism need be uprooted at the source and unfortunately border crossings address the problem after the horse has left the barn.

C
