Jim, Re: "Hopefully the XP will get AMDs Asps up a little..."

It's up to their CEO. If Jerry still wants to shoot for 30%, he'll eventually be giving away the Athlon XP for just as cheap, if not cheaper, than the current Athlon.

On the other hand, if AMD is happy with their current market, I think they can demand higher selling prices without sacrificing a lot of MSS.

The new marketing campaign will be awesome if this beginning is anything like the real thing.
1. Collaboration with Microsoft, not just stealing a name: A+, excellent
2. Arthur Andersen - brilliant stroke, A+
3. "Fastest desktop processor" but rating only at 1800+. This is really, really smart, IMO, others may disagree. But it makes Intel's numbers "suspect." Score it an A.
4. Developing independent benchmarks. Well, we'll see if they are accepted. Good to try it, 'B'.

AMD rates a solid A on the basis of what I've seen so far.
(I'm on travel so will probably miss most of the thread.)
