Blunder puts FBI suspects on internet
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard in Brussels
(Filed: 06/10/2001)

A CONFIDENTIAL FBI list of 370 people suspected of
helping Osama bin Laden's terrorist network has leaked
out.

The names, addresses, telephone numbers, e-mail, and
social security codes of the suspects were posted on the
internet by Finland's Financial Supervision Authority
(RATA).

When the error was spotted, the website was shut down.
The list was put together by the FBI and European
counter-terrorism agencies for use in tracking down the
bank accounts, assets, and money flows of the al-Qa'eda
network.

It contains the names of terrorists involved in the attacks
of September 11, sympathisers and those suspected of
providing conduits for terrorist finance.

--. He repeats the legend of how the future assassins were supposedly prepared for their missions by being drugged with hashish, brought into a secret pleasure garden, and told they had visited Paradise, to which they would return if they were killed in action.
--

the assassins were not only given lots of hash, but in that 'secret garden' there were 'beaucoup babes' as well.

Hello, Haim;

Yes, this been in the 'historical urban legend canon' for a while. I remember first reading about it back in the '60s. Hasassan, 'the old man of the mountain' and his bonny little troop of zombie ninjas holed up in their cave, altering their states, periodically emerging, like vampires, to punch a few more holes in the blood bags of infidels.

Of course, there were many independent contractors busy punching out each others bloodbags back then, and, I imagine, no shortage of inspired psychopaths with pretty effective recruiting methods, but, Hasassan is typically singled out as top vampire in that market.

As historical references go, he's regarded as somewhat apocryphal, but, nevertheless, trotted out when someone is curious about the roots of the term 'hashish'. Usually, of course, while getting their state altered...when else would one care?

regards,
larry

ps. your ongoing dialogue w/Heinz is really good. Thanks.
