. You would say that others have different ideas and while you don't accept those ideas you can't say that yours are intrinsically better just that they are what you believe or if believe is too strong of term (because it might imply a feeling or opinion that they are in some fundamental sense true) then you are comfortable with.

A very good summary. Of course, when others' views or opinions contradict mine, I shall use every tactic of logic and debate to propound my own view and contradict theirs... and I do reserve the right to change my mind if their arguments convince me <g>

And, when those views are about beliefs, or faith... then I believe that they are incorrect, but accept that they hold them. I will still happily explain exactly why I think they are wrong - especially insofar as those views affect or would modify my world. But it isn't for me to claim that my views 'are' necessarily right - I'll simply back my logic, deductions and arguments. :)

Not that that shows, of course.

If on the other hand it merely means accepting that others hold different views then you would have to be a moron not to agree.

Tim, I think there's a lot of confusion between relativist and tolerant because they can manifest themselves in the same way although they have different roots. In day to day life, when someone treats me respectfully even though I'm different from them in some significant way, I really don't care whether they do so out of relativism or tolerance. And I doubt that the people treating me respectfully are always conscious of why they're doing so. I think there's some sloppiness here when we talk about relativism, too. And it can be confusing.
