I think the election in FLA was probably too close to call. Its quite possible that the vote count would be within the margin of error. Fraud often exists in elections but usually is not enough to tilt the election, but in this one any kind of mistake or fraud would tilt it. In a sense I agree with the practical effect of the decision, and not just for partisan reasons of who was elected but rather an avoidence of recount after recount without ever really being sure anyway. But on the other hand I think I agree with you that the way the decision was made doesn't seem very solid and in fact looks like they "twisted themselves in knots".
