Jon: I was thinking about buying that phone too!!

A few notes on the transition from regular phone service to wireless.

1.2 million Korean "1x" customers.

23 CDMA2000 handset models.

I am getting very anxious to turn in my Sanyo for a 3G phone. PCS is going to have a terrific X mas season with all the new handset specials. In the near future, everyone will have a cell phone with the lowered price points & national 1 rate policies.

People are going to totally change their spending habits once they get ahold of the new phones. I will disconnect all the cordless phones in my house. I'll keep one line for my PC until I buy a wireless laptop. That will be the end of my cables & wires - once and for all. In fact, I am so pissed about the terrible football coverage on cable that I will disconnect my ATT Broadband and buy DISH or Direct TV.

The wireless world of data is going to put the final nail in the coffin for the networking companies that couldn't deliver any last mile solutions. It should be interesting what Gilder says at the CDMA Americ conference in San Diego later this month.

Gradually, the whole world is going to stop paying for cell phones and landlines. The economic wekness is too great for people to continue paying for their crappy phone lines & 56 kbps modem connections to AOL. Now that CDMA2000 has the capacity to handle the capacity for voice and data, it's time to turn the lights out for fixed services.

I've got two toys to buy - a CDMA2000 phone and a wireless notebook. I won't be sorry to say goodby to my Panasonic cordless phone that never seems to work - assuming I can find it. I generally despise my local phone company - BellSouth. I won't be sorry to let them know they won't be billing me anymore. Just give me some wireless internet!!

Jon: re: the Ky 2200 series. Do you have experience with Ky standard battery life. It looks like Ky only will offer standard for the 2200. Their website shows a long life for the 3000. I wonder why?
