Now how about that? Idiotic? Real Answers Yes, we should take reasonable precautions,but they should not include new funds or new wiretapping powers for the FBI and the CIA, or new excuses to exclude immigrants and deport long-time residents, as the new counter-terrorism legislation proposes. The remedy for terror, as pacifists have always known, is not counter-terror, but replacing terror with its true opposite: abolishing the terrors of nuclear arms, of militarism, of capital punishment; dismantling the structures of racism and white supremacy and a prison system that rehabilitates no one; checking police brutality; and reweaving our nation’s shredded safety net.
