The Moslem faith itself has very great laws and rules. The trouble is, they were formulated back then when the region was in anarchy, and Mohammed needed to motivate people towards lesser violence. In these times, when they are not interpreted to fit the current environment, they lead to and create violence, something which I bet the prophet never would have wanted. The 4 marriages rule. Well, it was coz the men were usually at war and died in large numbers and their women and children became destitute. The living males of the society were encouraged to take these destitute women and kids under thier wing. But its grossly misinterpreted today. Another thing which a lot of anti Moslems beat to death is that Mohammed married a 9 year old girl What they forget is that the girl was being persecuted and would have either ended up being raped and killed by one faction, or stoned to death by an opposing faction. I forget what her crime was, but it was something very small and insignificant. He married her to protect her. The intention was not at all to seduce a 9 year old ! Thier laws about marriages and divorce are the best amongst most religions of the world. I often wish my own religion was as just and impartial.... The myth about 75 virgins servicing a martyr. Well, Mohammed was a very shrewd leader. He realised that the debauch society would never heed his messages. The society was totally amoral. Murder, mayhem, rape, plunder. So to motivate the people into leading chaste, religious lives, he conjured up a picture of a heaven full of beautiful virgins, hoping that people would find that an incentive to live decent lives. Propaganda. His PR machine at work. Its stupid that these people never take time to understand the real reasons for some of these fancy tales. Ahmedias are the sect who have their religion interpreted according to modern times. This bit I wrote above has come from one of my devout Ahmedia friends....and I must say a lot of bullshit which orthodox Moslems adhere to, well it made a lot of sense when looked at from Mohammed's perspective given the time and place in history. I repeat, its not the religion which is faulty. Its the people who want to continue raping and plundering the common people under the name of religion.
