Sorry, I didn't catch the distinction you were looking for.

As far as I know, he's not been a purchaser of shares on the open market prior to this.

But he wasn't one to exercise and hold either, which is a taxable event and requires out of pocket money (ok, not as much).

I look at both as a good sign (I even wrote on this board about it a few months ago), but I think buying on the open market is a much bigger positive (especially the number of shares he's bought). But I'm not blind either. It doesn't mean the stock has reached THE bottom or that it will go up and stay up, nor does it mean that they are necessarily seeing a lot more orders coming in.

On the down side: What interest rate were they counting on for interest income? I have to think anything not tied up long term is going to take a hit sooner or later. Who would have thought that interest rates would have come down this much this quickly? And at nearly $4 per share in cash, amcc was making pretty good money per share in interest.

What would be even more spectacular to see is more insiders at amcc buying and insiders at pmcs, vtss and jdsu all buying shares. Well... I can dream anyway.

I remember a lot of complaints around the middle of 2000 when the insiders were selling like mad. They were right. Now they are buying. They probably know more than we do.

I would like to know if AMCC has any exposure to USA defense contracts. Perhaps through servicing businesses that get the defense contracts? Anybody know?
