Ah. My understanding is that the first democracy was Athens.

We are actually quite proud of our Constitution because it is the oldest one in the world. We don't change it much because we did it pretty much right the first time.

It's actually quite difficult to amend our Constitution. That way, it doesn't get changed very much. Politicians have an unfortunate tendency to meddle with things to satisfy short term goals.

Not sure when Finland became a democracy, but I think we've been one longer. It doesn't count does it first, IMO, it counts who does it the longest.
