Dear Amein:

I now know how to change my original introduction post! It is rather easy and I can change it at anytime! In any event I have changed the introduction post to reflect the positive articles also - and I also took out some of the more negative links comparing Islam to Christianity, etc. I hope it is ok by you now. And if not please do let me know and I am open to change the wordings, and/or add additional links, or whatever to make this thread as open minded as possible.

Now as for you response regarding thr wife beating notion in Koran, I appreciate the explanation. However I still feel you are missing the point.

First of all why would Koran advise men of beating their wives (i.e. slapping them on the hand as you have characterized it)) if their behavior is unacceptable, and why it does not adivse women to do the same to their husband (and notice I used singular "husband" in the case of men, and non-singular in case of "wives")?!

What this implies is that women are viewed as some sort of a "pet" to the men. If the "pet" does not beahve as its owner wants it to do, then the owner is allowed to punish it so it would behave properly according to its owner! I have a little dog that I kind of punish (in a rather soft manner of slapping it on the rear end) when it does not behave properly according to what I feel it should behave.

Secondly, since Koran does not seem to advise women to beat their husband (i.e. slap them on the hand) in case they behave improperly, it Surely does not suggest that it is only women who are evil and who have the potential of having unacceptable behavior and do wrong to their spouse (i.e. the men), and their husband is pure and "good" at all times! Or does it?

Also at the risk of repeating myself I would like to state the following as I posted in my previous post:

I am thristy to know about the ture Islam. I am and have been - pre-exposed to an ideology that is followed by the people who are anything but civilized open minded individuals (the likes of Khomeini groupies, the Talibans, etc.). I am asking you - begging you or any other Mulsim in fact - to respond to the following post which I have asked several times:

members.aol.com
If the translation seems to be wrong - or even misleading - please provide a genuine translation of every single Surrah mentioned in the above link, and/or provide a "logical" "reasonable" honest explanation of the logic context in which each surrah is used, and why.

And if you disagree with what I stated in the following post and if so why (based on logical reasonable "facts":
Message 16441483

Or at least point me in the right direction where I can find the answers to every single questions/issues I have raised. Believe me, despite having a pure Middle Eastern Persian background, you can not find anyone with a mind more open than mine to change given reasonable acceptable logic and explanations (somehow I can just hear some Muslims saying, "I give you some reasonable acceptable explanations... wait till I go get my shot gun..!") :)

Warmest Regards,

"is the most hated of allowables in the eyes of God... "

I could readily understand that you might have that point
of view yourself, but can you really, so directly
speak for God?

If so, which version?

Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, or any of the other however many hundred of Religious views of God?

I am not wishing to be disrepectful, but very few in this world can speak AS God. I am certainly not one of them.

Are you?

Namaste!

Jim
