Chalu... might it be possible that this families desired that their children grow up in a better life, thus throwing them overboard to be rescued and adopted by the Australians??

I wasn't there, but I don't know of too many parents in that part of the world who would throw their children overboard just to get rid of them....

If that were the case, logic dictates they could have done it long before that moment...

Of course, they may have purchased the kids as slaves, from some other family in hopes they could use them to improve their chances of receiving asylum.
