The terrible truth, Mark, is that due to the phenomenon of genetic drift in the flu bug, a repeat of the 1918 Pandemic could occur at any time and these exhumed bodies may or may not provide helpful clues.
The fact that a vaccine developed late in one year does not seem to be as effective as it should later in the coming flu season is due in large part to this very well recognized occurrence with this virus. We could even have a pandemic of a new virulent strain within a given year if a mutation against a vaccine profile were to develop.
Basically you can run but you can't hide.
