Are you saying that we should look at AIDS from the point of view of the virus, and try to understand its desire for survival?

Certainly not. I'm simply trying to avoid an overbroad assessment of who is the enemy. I was reacting to what appears to me to be an predilection to designate anyone who follows the Quran as a threat. The Quran may contain some nasty stuff, but so does the Bible, and we don't think that all followers of the Bible are a threat.

Regarding Islam being like AIDS, in neither case is it useful to fight an enemy from fear and prejudice. Just as AIDS is not easily contagious so there's no reason to quarantine those afflicted, there is no reason to "quarantine" all Muslims. That's not at all the same thing as looking at the problem from the point of view of the virus, merely trying to differentiate the AIDS virus from harmless or even friendly microbes, such as the acidophilus bacterium.

The secular islam is probably 1000 years away.

Maybe. Or maybe only a few generations away, since it exists in places now. In either case, I don't see how it's helpful to demonize the secular or liberal Muslims along with the terrorists.
