Well, if I got to give out awards for wonkiness, you would get one for this post. Hadn't thought my way through to the Chinese worries but what you say makes a great deal of sense.

I'm still thinking about the implications for various nations' interests in Caspian oil as one of the ways the undercurrents work their way out.

I'm definitely not a Bush admirer but I have to admit they appear to be doing it well. At least for the moment. Next step: keep an eye on Pakistani stability.
