Atmel Introduces Innovative HICUM Transistor Model for Its SiGe Technology
HEILBRONN, Germany, Oct 8, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML chart, msgs), a leader in Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) products and foundry services, introduced today a revolutionary new state-of-the-art design tool. The HICUM (HIgh CUrrent transistor Model) allows fabless companies or those without SiGe capability to model designs more accurately and thus to reduce re-design costs. Atmel's SiGe foundry provides sophisticated modeling software and mature design manuals for each of its three SiGe processes. These three core processes include SiGe1 and SiGe2, two HBT (Hetero-Bipolar junction Transistors) processes, and a BiCMOS process, with new processes of all types in continuing development.

In addition to the advanced HICUM models, Atmel continues to offer conventional SPICE Gummel Poon models in the latest SiGe1 and SiGe2 libraries for HBTs. These are available for the simulation engines Eldo from Mentor Graphics Corporation, Hpeesofsim from Agilent, and Spectre(R) from Cadence Design Systems.

HICUM is an advanced low-cost solution transistor model for bipolar transistors with main emphasis on circuit design for high-speed and medium-power applications. These innovative models specifically target the requirement for improved simulation capability, especially for high-speed large-signal transient applications and the resultant high collector current densities.

"One important advantage of HICUM compared to competitive advanced BJT models is its lateral scalability," said Dr. Wolfgang Kraus, head of the Modeling and Simulation Department at Atmel Wireless & Microcontrollers Division. "This new design model HICUM is a further step in Atmel's strategy to provide our customers innovative, leading edge design tools."

Sig how long are you holding most of your stocks? And do you hold more than two or three at one time?
