marcos:

You're probably right that spinning the major asset into another company would be difficult. Could be viewed as a reverse takeover of sorts for the new stock.

One option might be to spin off the grass-roots properties and then do a rights offering (this is what WSP mgt SAID they would do, but conveniently forgot to follow through on). The trouble with rights offerings is that US stockholders usually get excluded, because of SEC filing requirements. A lot of Southernera shareholders in the US were mighty p|ssed when Southernera restricted rights offering to Canada.

Guess my vote would be to spin off the grass-roots assets plus 1/2 the cash and take it from there...perhaps 1/2 share of "NewCo" for every share of Minefinders held?

I'm starting to wonder if the recent move in MFL is being led by demand in the US. Shares traded in the US have been exceeding shares traded in Canada lately, which seems odd. But, I haven't been watching the trading in MFL until recently, so I don't know what the US/Canada trading patterns look like.

Have any US (or Canadian) newsletter writers tipped MFL lately?

Any gold funds acquiring blocks of MFL?

Geoff
