Victor, I don't doubt that Iraq is a threat, but this site, DEBKAfile, seems a bit alarmist and sensationalist, if not downright paranoid.

First, I don't think fear of anything is "gripping America". Sure, a few people are wasting their money buying gas masks that won't do them any good, but most people are going on with their lives.

Second, the anthrax case did NOT occur "not far from the flying school where one of the hijackers ... rented planes." It occurred in NC. The guy returned to Florida, where he lived, and was hospitalized and died there. The FBI (and the CDC) should get to the bottom of where and how he contracted anthrax, but DEBKAfile's description is sensationalist and factually inaccurate.

BTW, their Web site also says we have deployed tactical nukes in Afghanistan and winked at the Russians, who supposedly want to use them in Chechnya. They also claim that China has sent 5000-15,000 troops into Afghanistan to fight WITH the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and implied that China will take advantage of our attention on South Asia to go after Taiwan.

Do you think DEBKAfile is a site to be relied upon? Could they have an agenda of their own that is furthered by these sensational reports?

Bob

>> Iraq has to be neutralized.... <<

and how exactly would you go about that? declare war on iran?

p.s. iraq and iran used to check each other's power in the middle east. of course we weakened iraq to the point of having to now contain both iran and iraq. just another example of our interventionism entangling us even further.
