mm, >>striking Iran, Iraq, and Syria <<

You are grossly overestimating our power, unless you are thinking nuclear bombs.

Do you seriously think we can do it all and, if so, from where? Which countries do you think will provide us with the air space and bases to strike all these countries? I seriously doubt that even Israel will provided us with bases to do this.

Look what we managed to do in Afghanistan after almost a month of preparation and furious negotiations to secure airspace rights and air bases: 50 strike aircraft and 50 cruise missiles. This is a small fraction of the firepower we poured into Kosovo every single day for months on end. That's because we had huge NATO air bases practically next door to Kosovo. And Kosovo is a small fraction of the land area of Afghanistan. The Afghanistan war will be won by getting the Afghan people to throw out the Taliban for us. We are just helping them along. This is what these very limited strikes (compared to the Gulf war and Kosovo) intend to accomplish. And that's why the strikes are combined with generous humanitarian aid. Afghanistan is no Kosovo. Nor are Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

Now, if you are talking about bringing back the draft, tripling our armed forces and spending 3 times more than we do now on defense, then yes, we can do it -- in a couple of years or so.
