When the world condemned Israel as a "racist" nation, we blindly pulled out of the conference. Sharon is a documented war criminal responsible for slaughter of tens of thousands of Palestinians women and children. Mani, I think your condemnation of the Israelis may be a little harsh as well as misplaced. I don't disagree that the Israelis can be racist...there has been enough evidence to suggest that the European Jew has a higher status in Israel than the Semitic Jew. However, I think that does not change the fact that the Israelis are making the best of the cards they were dealt...borne, ironically enough, from religious intolerance. As you probably know, the allies after WW II were confronted with the 'Jewish problem'. The solution was to allow the land that the Zionists inhabited to become their homeland. For a people who had been homeless for over a thousand years, it was the golden opportunity.....I, for one, can not blame them for fiercely defending what is now their's....and I think that's the primary motivating factor, not racism. If someone is to be blamed at least in part for the current mess, I guess it would have to be the allies of WW II. Its seems that wars often result in bad decisions that end up causing further problems down the road. Case in point, it was the then allies' decision to exact harsh retribution from defeated Germany after WW I war that gave rise to Hitler. Knowing all this, I do not think helps us with the current mess. It just makes clear that any decisions we make going forward better to be sound ones. ted
