WAY OT and in a time WARP
Daryl,
As an anti war protestor in the sixties I really had to do some soul searching here and some remembering. Our leaders back then used WW2 language to describe the Vietnam threat. However we were never attacked and we based our policy there on some cockamamie domino theory that our leaders never believed in but spit out any way. Even LBJ in private, said he only supported the war because of what he Republicans would do to him in the next election. Over 50,00 americans dead and for what.
In this case the WW2 analogy holds up--a surprise attack and here it was even worse; it was against civilians. The part of the left--the anti free trade pro anarchist legions combined with the do-gooders who are always out there make a pitiful site when they try to compare their opposition to the resistance against the Vietnam war. Apples and oranges! mike
PS I know i changed the subject on you but I felt a need to write this today. BTW Clinton gets this too and he would have probably done OK here. Bush's personna is just more suited for this and he has surprised me big time. His short speech yesterday was great again. I am a converted Bushie.
