Did those who pay 'payroll taxes' (which I oppose entirely) benefit from social security or medicare? Almost by definition they are not yet retired. There may be some unusual cases as these are complex programs. Mr. Bush also repeated his request for acceleration of the huge package of income tax reductions he won from Congress earlier this year. Yet these cuts overwhelmingly favor high-income Americans, who feel the pain of a recession least and whose spending is least influenced by tax cuts. Osama must be quaking in his sandles to learn that wealthy Americans will be able to afford an extra box of golf balls, Afganistan does look like one big sand trap. TP
