Carolyn, not knowing which operating system you are using and how much memory the computer has or the version of Word you are using it becomes more difficult to assess the problem. If it's a new computer the assumption will be Win98ME for the operating system and at least 128MB of memory and Word 2000.

Does the message appear when starting Word or when opening a Word document?

There are some basic things you can try.

Reboot the computer and see if the problem persists. If it does, determine what programs that are already loaded (check the icons in the system tray for the loaded programs) and remove the ones or all if possible to reduce the amount of resources being used by these programs. A better alternative is to rename them by adding a prefix to the name such as your initials so you don't lose what programs were being loaded. If you rename the executable files via the properties window they will not be found and will not get loaded. Reboot and try Word again.

Let us know the results and perhaps some more system information.

Regards,
Nick
