AMD had a good showing in the newspaper ads this weekend -- especially on the notebook side. Looks like HP is strongly adopting and pushing Athlon 4.

Also, there were a lot of P4 systems with the i845 chipset and SDRAM. These systems are quickly replacing DRDRAM P4 at retail. Yet, I do not recall a single PC magazine providing a performance comparison of these poorly performing Intel systems. I guess it's only news when someone introduces faster systems, and not when they secretly and dramatically lower performance. Where is a CNet story on this? Is there anyone out there protecting the consumer?
