Robert C. ``Bud'' McFarlane once was National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan....
Q: Do we need to change our laws to better ferret out these terrorist organizations?

A: This was a huge intelligence failure. It stems from not developing the resource that we knew 25 years ago [would be] needed to deal with these problems: human
intelligence. Twenty-five years ago a conscious decision was made in the Carter Administration to cut off our human connection in the Middle East. Six hundred
assets -- spies -- were severed.... Overcoming that is just going to take time.

Horse sh*t! Now I'm not trying to start a debate here but blaming Carter is a load of crap. The next 3 administrations had 20 years to fix the problem if they thought that Carter had screwed up. This is pure Monday morning quarterbacking by the opposing team. Typical political horse sh*t, blame the previous administration for your own failures. There is no doubt that Carter caused a lot of problems with his approach to many issues but 20 years later the "600 spies" could have been replaced if there was direction from the next 2 Presidents to do so.

We don't need this type of finger pointing at this stage. We need constructive direction from those at the top. We certainly don't need childish statements like: It's HIS fault. coming from Mcfarlane
