It was for that reason that they were supplied in small numbers. A smart decision would have been to have a back door on the products supplied (ie that they could be jammed via some wireless command - this would have prevented that they would ever be used against our own forces).

Or attached self destructing devices.

I know little about armaments so I will take your word that the correct spelling is stinger vs zinger [I was listening to discussion on 60 minutes last nite, and thought they said zinger...which apparently is also a surface to air missile].
